EXPERIENCE

  • More than 30 years as a teacher, assistant principal and principal
  • Employed by the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education, supervising student teachers, including in Fluvanna County schools
  • Created PAWS for Reading, which brought therapy dogs and their owners together with young readers
  • Created “Farm-to-School” program, which both helped students to connect with the source of their food and farmers to find a new market
  • Truly understands what makes education effective, from bottom to top. Understands what works in a classroom and how students learn.  Experience in developing and managing fiscally responsible budget and hiring and retaining quality educators. 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors degree from Goddard College, Plainfield, VT
  • Masters degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Cambridge, MA
