Shirley Stewart

A Rhode Island native, Shirley moved to Vermont to pursue a degree in education at Goddard College. Her student teaching experience led her to Randolph, Vermont, a town of 5,000, where she remained for 35 years as both teacher and principal. Shirley earned a Masters from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education, served on the Board of the Boys & Girls Club of the White River Valley, oversaw the New Teacher Mentoring Program, and spent countless hours supporting her husband and children from the sidelines and stands. A resident of Lake Monticello for six years, she is a graduate and past steering committee member of the Fluvanna Leadership Development Program, and is currently a member of LMOA’s Solicitation and Contract Committee. In her free time, she is a quilter, exercise enthusiast, and a novice on the golf course.

Alan Stewart

A graduate of the University of Central Florida, Alan pursued a lifelong career as an educator. Starting in elementary education, he moved to the high school level, teaching Advanced Placement, college prep, and general sciences to public school students. After retiring, he worked at the Vermont Technical College as Director of their athletic facility and taught science and math to college students. Alan coached varsity girls sports (softball and basketball) for thirty-two years and was recently inducted into the Vermont Principals Hall of Fame for his contributions and successes at the local and state level. Alan is currently an active participant on committees that support the Lake Monticello community.


Cortney (Stewart) Seltman

Cortney graduated as valedictorian of her high school class, played three varsity sports and was involved in a variety of extra-curriculars. Cortney continued her education at Brown University, earning a Bachelors in Environmental Studies and writing her thesis on Healthy Farms, Healthy Kids: The Potential to Increase Local Food Sourcing in Vermont Schools. She currently resides in Pittsburgh, with her husband Jake, and their three sons. She’s pursuing her Masters in Counseling, teaches prenatal yoga workshops and provides doula services. Cortney and her family are passionate about supporting their community on issues of food justice and education.


Derek Stewart

Derek attended public schools in Randolph, Vermont, and was an accomplished athlete during high school. He attended the University of Vermont where he helped to re-charter the Kappa Sigma, Alpha-Lambda chapter and graduated with a degree in Political Science. He is currently employed as the Global Head of Real Estate at and resides in New York City with his fianceé, Roxanne. Derek enjoys spending his free time golfing, fishing, traveling and renovating residential and commercial spaces.


Morgan Stewart

After graduating from Randolph Union High School, Morgan attended the University of Vermont where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and spent a semester abroad at the University of Western Australia. She is currently employed as a Marketing Events Coordinator at Bluewolf, a global strategic partner of and resides in San Francisco. In her spare time she enjoys volunteering with non-profits and the Tri Delta alumni chapter, playing recreational sports, and taking art classes.
